In efforts to be more organized and mindful this year. I decided to create a language learning journal to keep track of my learning. I like to keep a different journal for each language that I am learning and update them at the end of each day.

There are three columns. The first one is for recording what you learned today and the main things you want to takeaway from today’s study session. For example, you could write “I learned soccer vocabulary. For instance how to say ball, goalkeeper, referee, soccer field, …”
The second column is meant to be a fun and quick way to dig into your memory and write down a phrase in the language that you are learning. For instance, I recently wrote “¡Esto es divertido!” (This is fun!) for my Spanish journal.
The third column is to write a goal for tomorrow. It can be to review something or to learn something new. For example, review 30 flashcards, or practice listening to a video regarding sports.
For an extra challenge, fill in the journal using only the target language! An example of part of my Mandarin journal is below.
